365 Project: March 2011

A Mosaic of March 2011 Photos.

90/365 Summer Fun To Come!

This is the playground at the new splash park they are building down by the river.  In the background you can see some of the fountains.  Sort of a dull day and I couldn't do anything with the colors in this.

89/365

Really struggled here at the last minute!  I did like how this one looks though!  SOOC.

88/365 New Smart Phone

I picked up an new phone today.  It's a Samsung Galaxy S 4G.  It's replacing my Dell Mini 9 netbook that I was using with a Cricket mobile broadband modem and my ancient Nokia 6010 cellphone.  It has a 5 megapixel camera and records 720p HD video.  It also has a webcam.  So far I like it.

87/365 Walking The White Line

I like the way the line of trees really contrast against everything else.  I also like the bonus I got of the silhouette of the man walking down the path.

83/365 My Old Hot Rod

I was rooting through the curio cabinet looking for something for the POTD and I ran across these Polaroids.  This is a 1969 Chevrolet El Camino I owned in the mid-1990's.  I used to have fun with it out at the 1/8th mile drag strip.  It weighed in at about 3400 pounds and turned the eight in 9.3 seconds at around 80 mph (after some work, which I did myself, and some cash).  That was fairly quick for a street car and I surprised a lot of Mustang GT owners' at quite a few stop lights too!  It had a 350 small block with over 375+ hp, a Turbo 350 trans with a B&M shift kit and stall converter and a stock single traction 3:73 rear end.  Oh, and about 7 miles per gallon too.   I sort of miss those days!  I liked the way I caught part of my desk and the surroundings so this is SOOC.

82/365 Delicate Drop

I did not see the drop on the pedal until I was editing.  This is a tiny flower (it could hide behind a dime), and again I have no idea what it is.  This is a crop without an enlargement.

81/365 Cherry Blossom Bouquet

At least I believe it is Cherry Blossom.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  I really like the dof on this one.  SOOC.

79/365 Flowering Tree

I'm not sure what kind of tree this is but it sure is beautiful!  After a little research it appears to be a Magnolia.

Yellow blooms from the neighbor's yard.  Forsythia.  SOOC.

77/365 Chevy Power

This was in the parking lot across the street.  Tight crop to eliminate the clutter.

76/365 Spring Stinger

Was out in the backyard wondering what I was going to capture for the POTD today.  I sure wanted something that was showing some sort of life.  Well here it is.  I have another one of these in the Collection/Set, "Insects and Other Creature/Things That Sting".  I'm not sure what the drop is under his wing.  I'm going to check it out but I'm going to guess it was collecting sap for a nest and that is where it stores it.  BTW, this would have been SOOC but I had to crop it (but I didn't re-size it).

70/365 Skyway Sundown

The control tower at the airport.  Almost got exactly what I wanted.  But I did have to bump this just a tiny bit.  And now it is just what I was looking for.

69/365 ♫...a-wimoweh, a-wimoweh...♫

♫...In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight...♫.

A statue in my Mother In-law's backyard.

68/365 Fire Water

Another drop shot.  Straight from the kitchen sink.  Red food coloring with a blue terry cloth towel to hide the faucet knobs.

67/365 Three Months

My Father passed away three months ago today, December the 8th, 2010.  There were four of these, one at each corner of his casket.  I miss you so much Dad.  SOOC.

65/365 Sears KS Super II

My wife picked this up for me quite a few months ago at a yard sale.  I think she gave $10 for it.  Has the flash, a 'nifty fifty' and a 80-200 zoom. It also has a 2x tele-converter and a nice bag.  All I had to do was replace the battery.  From what I know about this it is an SLR that is an aperture priority automatic.  Another words the only real control is the aperture setting (and ISO), the camera handles shutter speed.  I think I'm going to try it out.

64/365 Big Bolt

This is a very large bolt that we use at work.  I like the textures, especially on the washers.  SOOC.

63/365 Red Lights At The Red Light

Traffic stopped at the red light.  The rain drops appear as bokeh on the windshield.

62/365 That Old House

Saw this a few weeks ago and knew I wanted to get a shot of it.  Tried doing an HDR of another view but just couldn't get what I wanted.  I settled for this one, 16:9.  Not an HDR but I like it.  HDR another time. :D

61/365 Backup, Backup, Backup...

The laptop I use as a video player came out of hibernation Monday into what is called "Startup Repair".  I allowed it to run in this mode for a few hours.  I finally shut it down and attempted to find out what the problem was to no avail.  Did find out that the registry was corrupted and there wasn't anything I could do, other than reinstall Windows 7.  So I did.  Even though I have my older pics on a separate partition the reinstall wiped them.  Fortunately a free little program called Power Data Recovery saved the day.  I recovered nearly 6 Gigs of photos and 4 Gigs of other data.  The data I could have gotten by without but not the pics.  I was using this computer as a backup, which was OK, except I hadn't backed it up anywhere else.  So I burned  everything to DVD's and now I feel better.  I won't let that happen again.  So backup your photo's and anything else important to CD/DVD or the 'cloud'.

60/365 Redbird

Had to pickup some things over at my Dad's today.  Saw him and this was the best shot I could get.  Actually it was the only one I got.  I followed him around for about 10 minutes.  Not as sharp as I wanted but it will do.  Just a crop.
